Twitter

I do have my own Twitter account with a total of 6 followers - and I see I have not posted anything onto it for 9 months. I have now started following a few other people from Cam23. I will use it from my phone - that will be a better way to continue

Thing 6

We use a shared calendar for the library office - Kalender - one of Thunderbirds add-ons. And for personal things, reminders etc I use the thunderbird Calendar and tasks. The google calendar looks nicer - I may start using it - but then I have all my regular monthly and weekly reminders on Thunderbird.

On a more interesting note, I followed Npage's guide to finding out who has been visiting your blog. Very useful - particularly for other stuff in the future.

Thing 5

I haven't used Doodle before - really don't like the look of it - boring, and not very intuitive to use - and why does it generate so many emails? Created yet another user name and password. Wow, I now have so many passwords and user names - although I generally use the same password- there must be a better way - thumb prints maybe. At least this latest one just asks for user name and password - Virgin money is the worst offender in this - username, password, passcode, - then they ask for the 2nd, 6th and 9th letter of your memorable name - so you are trying to see your memorable name in your head, what is the 9th letter? - and I just wanted to quickly login to see how much I spent on my credit card last month.

Looking at other blogging sites

Very impressed by the variety - lots of creative people out there. Some amusing and interesting comments, insights and first impressions. I left a few comments and I am also now following 4 other bloggers.
Definitely makes it more fun.

Screen shot

Doing a screenshot of my igoogle page.

I was going to use Gimp to edit the screen shot as I have already got it loaded onto my machine. But before doing this I had a look at a couple of the websites on the link recommended by the 23 things team - and this site said that Gimp had great features, a bit like photoshop, but with a similar steep learning curve to match. So I thought, why not have a look at one of the other sites .....

Photoscape had a good write up and once downloaded I thought it looked very approachable, with the circular menu and the nice colours.

Web 2. etc new things

I had to check what Web 2 incorporated - and find that I am a Web 2 user as I regularly use Facebook and have used Twitter a very little bit. As this type of use of the internet has really taken off in the last few years I hope that 23 Things will introduce me to things I haven't even heard of - and also help me to use things that I have. It seems like a gentle, unscary introduction to new things.
